Some of you know AlfonZo Rachel, who posts video commentaries on YouTube and PJTV.com. Zo was recently asked to speak at a Tea Party in Dallas, Texas, and in his address he rightly made the point that while economic issues are important, the real issue is what he called "a deficiency of God" -- i.e., we are so focused on our shrinking wallets that we've neglected the One Who gave us the tools to be able to fill those wallets.
As you well know if you've read my most recent notes, this is a point that resonates with me, and I've had several exchanges with family and friends about this over the last few weeks. Last evening my friend Terri Green, with whom I've talked a lot about the extreme importance of social issues, summed it up nicely and I wanted to share what she said. I’ve only lightly edited her comments, with her permission:
"It's time for God fearing people to remember the one True God of the universe. When we are screaming at our government, we should be on our knees beforehand. The absence of Him is the reason we are a mess as a country, a political party, and a people. We shy away from mentioning His Name and His precepts. And until we understand that we can't make it without HIS Hand upon us, then we will never win the real fight. History is about HIM."
